Fall in northern Nevada

Autumn leaves are appearing along the Truckee, mule’s ears in the high mountain meadows are dried up and rattling in the breeze, and frost has assassinated my geraniums. Hard to believe we’re almost halfway through fall. Pretty soon Nevada Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Family Day will signal the approaching finals storm, and then a much-deserved winter break.

Courses are available in the Wintermester (Dec. 28th - Jan 15th) that might meet one of your degree requirements. Check the schedule at http://wintermester.unr.edu/

On a less optimistic note, if you have to drop a class for any reason this semester, do it on ePAWS by the Friday, October 16th deadline and your transcript will show a “W” (withdraw) for that course. You will suffer no academic penalty other than having to take that class again later (if it’s required). But now is a good time to meet with the instructor in that course and reconcile any difficulties you’re facing.

Now is also a good time, before the spring semester schedule of classes goes online, to meet with your academic advisor if you need to review requirements for your degree and what to take in the spring. All’s kind of quiet on the old advisement front at the moment, but that won’t be the case once registration begins.
